Snapshots – Notes from the Passing Days

I’ve started to like snapshots more and more. They’re like sketches, quick notes from everyday life.

I’ve been photographing for a long time, almost obsessed with photography and documenting what I see. I can’t really explain what it is about this medium that fascinates me so much, but I just know I can’t help trying to express myself through images.

[The snapshot is] the form of photography that is most defined by love. People take them out of love, and they take them to remember – people, places, and times. They’re about creating a history by recording a history.

When George Eastman introduced the Kodak in 1888 – a simple camera preloaded with film for 100 pictures – it suddenly became possible to take photos quickly and easily. Photography spread to a much wider audience, and snapshots became part of everyday life.

Today, of course, everyone carries a camera in their phone, and we live in an overflow of images. Still, I don’t think there can ever be too many pictures.

Part of why I’m drawn to snapshots is that I’m increasingly interested in a flow of images that together tell a story.
