Messaure – A Village Erased from the Map
A few weeks ago, we visited Messaure, a community built for the workers who constructed the hydroelectric dam. When the project was finished, the village was gradually dismantled. Today, almost nothing remains of what was once home to around 3,000 people.
Ingela Koski, 66, spent her childhood there.
”I had twenty years there, and I will never let go of it. Even though it makes me sad, it’s still home,” she says.
